The focal panel of this card was pretty easy-peasy to make! I used Adobe Photoshop to get the variety of elements the correct colors and in the proper places, but you could probably make something very similar in a word processing program! TRCC: Challenge #4: Perfectly Pink

Now, we really just want to see creations with an abundance of pink. You don't have to necessarily go with the "perfectly girly" theme or use the photos as your guide. I decided to continue my "stash rummage" for this creation. I found a Martha Stewart floral stamp set that hadn't seen the light of day for many a moon, some pink inks from Stampin' Up! that needed to be used so they knew they were loved, and a sentiment stamp from a rarely used (tragic!) Paper Smooches set. I am loving finding old treasures! I kept the accents of this feminine creation soft and pearly to keep with the polished feel, with just a bit of sparkle on the sentiment thanks to a glitter gel pen from Sakura.

I pulled out a Fiskars stamp set that I bought years ago to create this fresh and fruity card! I added some patterned paper from The Stamps of Life, ribbon from Stampin' Up!, and layered the focal image with various pieces, including a doily from Doodlebug. I LOVE all the fun and sunny yellows with fresh white polka dots!

You KNOW how I love me a good pun! This is why I kept this set--the amazing puns! My hubby said he really liked this card, so I actually used it as his Valentine last month. ;)

I pulled out a Fiskars stamp set that I bought years ago to create this fresh and fruity card! I added some washi tape to anchor the images, layered my orange papers, and added shine and texture with some Stickles.  A trio of glittery enamel dots from Doodlebug accent the sentiment.

TRCC: Challenge #1: Red Romance

Hello, friends, and HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you've had a wonderful and restful Christmas holiday and are looking forward to a beautiful and positive 2019! Last year was a bit of a struggle for me, personally, but I am back to blogging and SO excited to be posting my first creation for the *BRAND NEW* challenge I've started with my good friend, Jacqueline! It's called The Rainbow Card Challenge, and here is our first prompt...

I got out two fun sets from Close to My Heart from my stash (one currently on sale, one retired) for this card. The falling heart background is one stamp (on sale!), and the focal image and sentiment are from another. I used a variety of red materials to layer the focal heart, and backed it with some fun red washi tapes. Some black liquid pearls help to tie the sentiment to the image.

The sentiment was layered onto a red stamped image, then gone over with a glaze gel pen by Sakura for extra bling! I LOVE these fun brush stroke stamps and the sweet rhinestones that add more texture and shine!

MHKDesigns: Caring Crocus Freebie + A Fond Farewell

Hi, friends! I have some happy news today, and some bittersweet news. First, the bittersweet. This is the last post for the MHKDesigns blog until further notice. I have decided I need to focus my energy on teaching, and I feel bad that I haven't been able to comment and participate in blog land. I hope to be able to return later on, but for now my blogging days are going to have to diminish, if not end all together. THANK YOU to each of you who have supported us here at MHKDesigns! I will still be honoring the sponsor commitments I made for 2018, but starting today, the shop will start to slowly lose items. Here's what I did with the freebie.

Instead of hand coloring, I decided to digitally color this month. I used a variety of paint style brushes to create the color behind the image from the Caring Crocus set. I recolored the image white so the colors would POP a bit more.

This fun rainbow creation makes me super happy! I hope it brings you joy, too! Please let me know what you think in the comments below!

MHKDesigns: Caring Crocus

Hello, friends! I hope your April is going by beautifully! Today I'm back to share another card using the *NEW* Caring Crocus digital stamp set from the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop. Take a peek...

I used Photoshop to create my focal panel. I used dry brush brushes to color in the image from the Caring Crocus set, making the flower a sunny yellow. I then added a fun butterfly embellishment to add a bit more spring to the card.

I then added the sentiment from the Caring Crocus set by adding a black background and recoloring the words white. I like doing this so the sentiment POPS! A few glittery embellishments frame the sentiment in a triangle formation.

Finally, I added black matting with a punched border and more blue pearly embellishment. I wanted a bit of blue to mimic the spring sky! I think this card definitely screams spring, and I hope you agree! Tell me your thoughts in the comments below!
