House of Cards: July 2017 Challenge

Hey, everyone! It's time for another challenge at House of Cards and this month's inspiration is super fun! We are asking you to...

...use stripes and/or this color inspiration!

I kinda sorta used both. I did love the sunny stripes idea, but I also wanted to use a floral image. I decided to use digital stamps and papers from the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop to create a one layer card using this inspiration! Take a peek...

The image and sentiment are from the Beauty digital stamp set and the papers are from the Sunflower Sampler (green polka dots) and Twinkle Twinkle Little Stripes (yellow *stripes*) digital paper packs. I added some Wink of Stella glitter to the leaves of the flower, but I was unable to photograph the shine properly. A few bits of bling from Close to My Heart added the finishing touch! What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, friends!  I hope you take a bit of time to come and play along with us at House of Cards.  Don't forget to stop by the other DT members' blogs for even MORE amazing inspiration--they always blow me away!  I'll be back later this month with more crafty posts!  Until then, HUGS and happy stamping, friends! :)

MHKDesigns: Digital Faux Quilt Background

Hi friends! I hope your summer/winter (depending on the hemisphere!) has been great so far! I am really exited to share that starting this month, I will be sharing tutorials on the MHKDesigns Blog on how to create one-layer digital cards with products from the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop that look like the have been cut and layered! I feel like a lot of the cards I make are never mailed because they get bulky, so this is a way I can ensure that some of them at least will make it out of my house! ;)  Take a peek at the first card I have to share with you in this series...

Isn't it pretty??? I love the way the papers are layered and look like a faux quilt! That's why I'm calling this digital technique "Digital Faux Quilted Background". The papers I used for this technique are from the Sunflower Sampler digital paper pack. The image (from the Stitched Sunflower digital stamp set) was not colored digitally, though. I colored it in with Spectrum Noir markers after it was printed. The burlap ribbon was also added for some added texture!

If you'd like to see a tutorial on how to create this technique, head on over to the MHKDesigns blog or my YouTube channel! The card I make for the tutorial is different colors and looks like this once it is colored and has ribbon added...

That's all I have for you today, friends! Thank you so much for stopping by! I always love to hear from you, so please do let me know your thoughts in the comments below! Don't forget to head over to the MHKDesigns blog for more inspiration and join in our *NEW* challenge tomorrow for your chance at winning some digital goodies from the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop! Until next time, HUGS and happy {digital} stamping, friends!

House of Cards: Color Inspiration and/or Add Sequins!

Hello, all! It's time for another challenge at House of Cards and I am seriously excited about the inspiration we have this month for you! We're asking you to add sequins to your cards, be inspired by our color board, or BOTH! Take a peek at the colors we have this month...

I was inspired by both challenge aspects. I created a fun one layer card using Photoshop, and then I added sequins around the border! Here's the complete card...

I LOVE this sentiment--I am going to have either a bulletin board, door decorated, or poster made to have in my classroom with it! I also think the two fonts I used are fun and whimsical together. :)

I chose to add AB clear and black sequins only so that the colors of the border I designed would stand out. A few liquid pearls add a bit more texture and shine, as well.

I really adore the way this card turned out! I hope you like it, too! I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

House of Cards: Feather Images and/or Color Inspiration

Hello, everyone! It's time for another challenge at House of Cards, and this month we have a fabulous inspiration challenge for you! You can choose to follow the colors OR use feather images OR do both! It's up to you!  Take a peek at the inspiration...

I was inspired by both the colors and images, and I started with just one card...but it morphed into a bold and fresh card set! ;)  I used Photoshop to create my panel (these are all one layer cards), and then used hue settings to change the colors quickly and easily. Here's the entire set...

After I printed the cards, I rounded the corners at the bottom to add a bit of finish. Seam binding ribbon in coordinating tones was added to the tops of the cards and sequins, liquid pearls, and rhinestones were added to enhance the sentiment at the bottom of the card. This set uses images from the Fanciful Feathers digital stamp set and a sentiment from the Beauty digital stamp set from MHKDesigns.

I LOVE the monochrome that was created on each card with printing, ribbon, and embellishments! These turned out so prettily, and I hope you like them! I can't wait to hear your thoughts in the comments below. :)
