House of Cards: Use Script and/or Color Inspiration

Hey, all!  It's time for another challenge over at House of Cards, and we have a fabulous challenge for you this month!  We're asking you to use script on your creations and/or be inspired by this photo/color photo...

I was inspired by the script and the flowers in the photo.  I went with a similar color scheme, but wanted to make my creation a bit more bright and bold.  Take a peek...

I used the Blossoming set from MHKDesigns for my floral image.  I watercolored the image and background, then added some script to the background with green ink.  Some glitter was added to the center of the flower for shine and texture, and a sprinkling of embellishments were added for more interest.

The sentiment is from the Tulip of Thanks set from MHKDesigns.  It was printed onto vellum, then added to the card base, prepped with paper from the Egg-cellent Easter pack, with staples.

A pink doily and some green ribbon were added to the top of the card. I think this screams spring, don't you?  I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by today, friends!  I hope you take some time to craft and join us at House of Cards!  Don't forget to stop by the other DT member's blogs--they will blow you away with their creativity, just like they do me each month!  Until next time, HUGS and happy stamping, friends! :)

Inspired By Stamping: Valentine Countdown

Hi, all!  I am SUPER excited for my post today!  As soon as I saw the *NEW* My Valentine's stamp set from the Inspired By Stamping store, I just KNEW that I'd need to make a Valentine countdown frame with it!  It was really a pretty quick project because the stamps do most of the work for you!  I'll narrate how I made this project, then do a recap list at the end.  Take a peek at my completed project before I take you step by step...

Isn't that just super fun?!  I went with a traditional Valentine color scheme--black, red, white, and gold for shine and elegance.  The first step in creating this project is to find a frame you want to use.  I had one that was in serious need of an upgrade.  It was more of a shadowbox type frame.

I'm not sure if you can tell or not, but there is a gold mat that was inside the frame with an oval opening.  I added some patterned paper to fill in that gap.  I then added three strips of ribbon across the frame to attach my tags.

The tags were super fun to make!  I used washi tapes, red glittery hearts, glittery chipboard arrows, gold stickers, flowers, other miscellaneous embellishments, and the My Valentine's set for the tags themselves.

To attach the tags, I utilized hair clips.  I just hot glued some flowers to the tops and then threaded them through the hole.  You could also use tiny clothespins for this.  Those were actually my first choice, but I couldn't find the ones I KNOW I have somewhere in my craft area. ;)

I am SO happy with how this project turned out!  I hope you like it, too!  I'd love for you to let me know your thoughts in the comments below!  And now, like I stated above, here's a quick list of steps to make this project:
  1. Select frame.  Add patterned paper and ribbon.
  2. Make tags using the My Valentine's set, flowers, and other desired embellishments.
  3. Make clips to hold tags in place temporarily by hot gluing flowers onto the tops of hair clips.
  4. Attach tags to frame.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, friends!  That's all I have for you today, but I'll be back soon with more inspiration using fabulous products from the Inspired By Stamping online store.  Until then, HUGS and happy stamping, friends! :)

Great Impression: Use Your Favorite Stamp{s}!

Hey, chickies!  It's time for another monthly challenge at Great Impressions, and I'm here to share a card using some of my FAVORITE Great Impressions stamps!  That's our challenge--USE YOUR FAVORITE STAMP!  Take a peek at my card...

This little gal is G524 Birdie With Kite.  I created a fun scene with by watercoloring my bird and then repeatedly stamping G426 Whimsical Cloud to make her look like she is soaring through the sky.

The sentiment, C480 Hey Chickie, seemed the perfect choice for this card!  I stamped it, cut it into a banner, then matted it with black cardstock.

I decided to add a resin flower with some punched leaves to add a bit more color and interest to my card.  I think it was a good choice. ;)

I then added my focal panel to a card base that was gussied up with some houndstooth printed paper.  I kept it black and white so that the colors of the bird and flower would POP.  I really thing this is pretty cute, aside from my poor watercoloring skills. ;)  What do you think?  I'd love for you to let me know in the comments below!

That's all for me today, friends.  THANK YOU so much for stopping by to take a peek at my card!  I hope you come and join our monthly challenge!  If you use a stamp from the Great Impressions online store, please link it up in our Customer Gallery, too!  Until next time, HUGS and happy stamping, friends! :)

Great Impressions: Mom's Kitchen

Hi, friends!  I'm back with a paper pieced card using a darling stamp from the Great Impressions online store!  This was actually my mother in law's Mother's Day card, but I couldn't share it until now!  Take a peek...

This image, H194 Mom's Kitchen, was perfect for my MIL's Mother's Day card because our last name is Kitchen...well, I guess I thought it was clever. ;)  The image portion was paper pieced, and the stockings were colored in with glitter gel pen.  I also highlighted the sentiment portion of the stamp with glitter gel pens.

Some bits of bling were added for a feminine feel.  I like the way they coordinate with my color scheme and add a finished feeling.

I'm pleased to tell you that the card was a hit!  I was relieved, because paper piecing this image was not easy, lol!  What do you think of the finished product?  I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

That's all for me today!  I'll be back next soon with another creation using stamps from the Great Impressions store.  I hope you join in our current challenge, and, if you use Great Impressions stamps, link them up in our Customer Gallery, too!  HUGS and happy stamping to you all!
