Ship Themed Sympathy With Waltzingmouse

Let's just get this straight, shall we? I HATE making sympathy cards.  Seriously hate it.  But I also know that cards can change lives and attitudes because they have done that for me.  Unfortunately a friend of mine lost her grandmother.  Her mother is also my friend, so that friend lost her mother.  It's not the best situation, and so I was a little stumped as to where to turn.  Waltzingmouse stamps to the rescue!  The Safe Harbours Sentiments set literally saved my bacon!

Here's what I came up with~

For these fabulous challenges~

I started by stamping the Pinstripes background from Waltzingmouse onto some Bermuda Bay card stock using Bermuda Bay ink.  I then inked the edges, die cut an oval, and set the panel aside.  I stamped the sentiment from the Safe Harbours Sentiments set by Waltzingmouse and used a smaller oval die cut to mask the sentiment so I could sponge around and inside of it.  I used dimensional foam to make it look like the sentiment is framed by the striped panel.  Some patterned paper by The Paper Studio, glitter paper by DCWV, some twine from my stash, and a few enamel stars from Freckled Fawn completed the card.  I hope it brings my friends comfort.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my card.  I hope you like what you see and I hope that you join in with these fun and fabulous challenges.  Also, please take some time today to let your loved ones know how loved they are.  HUGS and happy stamping, friends!

DT Call/Just Because Post

Well, I feel like I haven't actually blogged "just because" in a zillion years!  I do have one main reason for this post and it's to let you know that I am starting another NEW challenge called House of Cards! This challenge will be different than any other.  We'll have a monthly sketch or color scheme and ask you to create a project each week based on a specific card making style!  BUT, first we need some fabulous crafters to join us!  So, PLEASE pop on over and consider entering our DT call!  More information can be found HERE. :)

Another reason for posting today is to tell you about the great deals I got at the local consignment sale this past weekend!  I paid $38 and I got some bling, ribbon, acetate elements, paper elements, and 15 stamp sets!!!  You'll get to see a bunch of my new images in my May DT projects so stay tuned! :)

And now I'll share a few cards.  We had a few deaths in our lives last month and I still don't really want to talk about them, but these are the cards I made to send to those who lost close loved ones.

The cards~

Thanks for stopping in and taking a peek!  I hope you join in the DT call at HOC and that you'll create something today!  HUGS and happy stamping! :)

Two cards, same digis, different purposes...

Hi.  It's me again!  Yes.  I'm posting twice on a Sunday.  It's weird.  You'll survive.  You know you love it! ;)  Anywho...I've got 2 cards to show you using the same digital stamps from Fred She Said and some digi sentiments by yours truly!  I love to make up card panels on photoshop and print them out with different sentiments for future use.  I was lucky enough to win a gift certificate to Fred She Said from Word Art Wednesday, so I felt it only fitting to use the digis ASAP! :)

For these fabulous challenges~

(My scrap drawers thank you again!)

(I've dry embossed.)

Unfortunately, I had need for another sympathy card as a friend of mine's grandmother passed away.  BUT, I know this card will brighten her day just a little and that is why I am so thankful to God for my talents He has blessed me with!

So, these cards utilize my newest favorite technique.  Seriously.  Browse my blog and you'll see it almost every single screen full of posts...I watercolor my panel as little or as much as I want, I spritz with glimmer mist, I semi-dry it, I dry emboss it, it turns out fabulous!  Every. Single. Time.  Seriously--you cannot go wrong with this technique!  And it turns out so differently each time, too!  Take a look at the other card I've made...

Birthday card~

See!  The exact same panel but with different sentiments.  Both came out amazingly but they look totally different!  This one uses my homemade glimmer mist.  Much cheaper.  I hope you try it out--you'll love the results!!!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at my cards!  I appreciate each of you and hope you'll join in these fabulous challenges!  Happy stamping! :)

I have a quick post for you today, since I've been MIA lately.  This is the card that I sent my cousin after her husband passed away after a long battle with cancer.  He was in his early 30s.  He left his wife (my cousin) and their 6 year old daughter along with other family members.

Here is the card~
