MHKDesigns: Digital Faux Quilt Background

Hi friends! I hope your summer/winter (depending on the hemisphere!) has been great so far! I am really exited to share that starting this month, I will be sharing tutorials on the MHKDesigns Blog on how to create one-layer digital cards with products from the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop that look like the have been cut and layered! I feel like a lot of the cards I make are never mailed because they get bulky, so this is a way I can ensure that some of them at least will make it out of my house! ;)  Take a peek at the first card I have to share with you in this series...

Isn't it pretty??? I love the way the papers are layered and look like a faux quilt! That's why I'm calling this digital technique "Digital Faux Quilted Background". The papers I used for this technique are from the Sunflower Sampler digital paper pack. The image (from the Stitched Sunflower digital stamp set) was not colored digitally, though. I colored it in with Spectrum Noir markers after it was printed. The burlap ribbon was also added for some added texture!

If you'd like to see a tutorial on how to create this technique, head on over to the MHKDesigns blog or my YouTube channel! The card I make for the tutorial is different colors and looks like this once it is colored and has ribbon added...

That's all I have for you today, friends! Thank you so much for stopping by! I always love to hear from you, so please do let me know your thoughts in the comments below! Don't forget to head over to the MHKDesigns blog for more inspiration and join in our *NEW* challenge tomorrow for your chance at winning some digital goodies from the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop! Until next time, HUGS and happy {digital} stamping, friends!

MHKDesigns: Interlocking Gatefold Card

Hi, friends!  I'm here today to share a fun fold card that uses some awesome products from the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop, and I've also got a video tutorial on how I created this card!  Take a peek at the final product...

This card is called an interlocking gatefold card.  It utilizes dies to create a fun fold that opens in a very unique way!  I chose to use a sentiment from the Lift Me Higher digital stamp set and the image from the Simple Rose digital stamp set for the outside of my card.  The paper is from the Autumnal Accents digital paper pack.

I also chose to decorate the inside of the card.  I used more of the same paper from the Autumnal Accents digital paper pack and another sentiment from the Lift Me Higher digital stamp set to tie it all in together.

A few pearls and a glittery foam heart were the only embellishments needed for this unique card!  I really like the way this turned out, and I hope you do, as well!  Click HERE to go to my YouTube channel for the video tutorial on how to make your own interlocking gatefold card! :)  I can't wait to hear what you think in the comments below!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, friends!  I hope you join the monthly challenge we have going on at MHKDesigns!  Grab these goodies from the Etsy shop and get crafting today!  I'll be back later this month with more crafty posts!  Until then, HUGS and happy stamping, friends! :)

Paper Sweeties July Inspiration Challenge #33 - Red, White & Blue

Hi, SWEETIES!  I am here today to share a card for the July Paper Sweeties challenge!  Our inspiration is so fun, I hope you like it and play along!  Take a peek...

SO fun--and perfect for July here in the USA!  I decided to go with the colors and stripes/star motifs, but my card isn't necessarily patriotic.  Take a peek at my creation...

I used the hot air ballon from the new Let's Go To The Beach stamp set.  I heat embossed it in clear, then watercolored with red and blue inks.  It was die cut with the new Let's Go To The Beach Sweet Cuts dies.

I created the background by using a technique that I call "Ink 'n' Emboss".  I've got a tutorial on it HERE, or watch below.  I added some washi tape and some clouds from the Let's Go To The Beach stamp set that were also cut with the Let's Go To The Beach Sweet Cuts dies.

The sentiment is from the new Surf's Up stamp set.  I created a "cloud" by tearing some white card, then stamping the sentiment in blue ink.

Some Marshmallow sequins were added as a finishing touch.  I like all the different textures on this card, and it was so fun to make!  I hope you like it, too!  I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

As promised, the tutorial video on the background.~

That's all for me today!  I'll be back later this month with some creation using the July release, so stay tuned!  For more inspiration for the challenge, make sure to visit the other gals on the DT, as well.

Paper Sweeties May Release Sneak Peeks!

Hello, SWEETIES!  It's time for another release at Paper Sweeties and I am SO excited to share some new products with you today!  It also happens to be my birthday, so I kinda went crazy with the cards for my post today--I have FOUR to share with you!  I also have a video tutorial to share on how to stretch your dies, using the fabulous new Happy stamp set and Happy Sweet Cuts!  Here's the first card I have for you...

This card uses the new Happy stamps and Happy Sweet cuts.  I did a bit of inlaid dies with this one and layered the sentiments on to a card base that was gussied up with some fun chevron patterned paper.

The next card I have for you uses the same fun inlaid dies technique, but with the Sweet die from the Happy Sweet Cuts.  Take a peek!

I added some fun enamel dots to this card, and the patterned paper is matted with some black card.  I LOVE the fun bold bright colors with the new Happy stamps and Happy Sweet Cuts, don't you?!

My next two cards use the positive of the die cut words.  I created a fun shadow effect by stamping the Happy stamp set sentiments before layering the die slightly off of the stamped sentiment.  Take a peek at the birthday version...

This one is an almost one layer card, if it wasn't for the die.  I just LOVE how thin the new Happy Sweet Cuts are!  They are also SUPER versatile!  This card just needed a bit of bling, so I chose some glittery enamel stars to accent the sentiment.

The next card uses the Sweet sentiment from the new Happy stamp set and Happy Sweet Cuts.  There's more layers on this one, but it's still pretty clean and simple.  Check it out...

This card has a few pearls for some elegance and a fun twine/button combo to add more interest.  I think these colors are so fun, don't you?

I hope you like my creations!  I had SO much fun creating them!  If you're a visual learner, and would like to watch the video on how to create these cards, take a peek below...

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a peek at my cards today!  Sorry this post was so photo heavy, but I think you can see why I LOVE the new Happy stamps and Happy Sweet Cuts dies!  Make sure to check out what the other gals on the team have for you, too!

Here's the hop list~

I'll be back tomorrow with another card using these new products!

Until then, HUGS and happy stamping! :)
