MHKDesigns: Christmas Silhouettes I

Hi, friends!  It's time for another release for the MHKDesigns Etsy shop, and we have SIX sets to share with you, PLUS a couple of beautiful paper packs, as well!  Today we are showcasing the...

Christmas Silhouettes I Digital Stamp Set

I LOVE the fun vintage silhouettes in this set, and so I coordinated them with some fun holiday sentiments.  I decided to showcase the stocking hanging silhouette--those little chubby kids are just so cute!  Take a peek..

I added some patterned papers from the Snowy Season paper pack to add some wintry snowflakes, but in a traditional color scheme.  Some doily pieces, flowers, and gold glitter accent this sweet image.

I didn't want to leave out a sentiment from this set, so I decided to add it to the inside...it just didn't work on the outside!  Of course I chose the sentiment to coordinate with the image. ;)

I really love this fun card, and I hope you do, TOO!  I think the vintage/traditional feel is just wonderful, and this will be given to a special friend this holiday season. :)  Please leave me a comment below to let me know what YOU think!

MHKDesigns: Simply Santa

Ho, ho, ho, and Merry Christmas {in September}, everyone!  It's time for a mini-release for MHKDesigns!  I made a few mini sets that are minimal in cost, plus I've added some papers, so my team is going to be sharing the cards and sets from the 22nd-26th.  Stay tuned for the beginning of October, too, because I am sponsoring the Hop to Stop and so I'll have 2 more sets and another paper pack to share with you on the 1st!!!

Before we get started, I have a WINNER
from yesterday's post to announce!

The winner is...

Pia S. who said:
"It's gorgeous, Mynnette. I've always struggled coloring in flowers, but the way this is designed with the shaded parts leaves me with a feeling I could manage coloring this one. It deserves to be in the spotlight, so I like that you kept it fairly simple, just adding a bit of sparkle and texture. Great job!"

Please email me at mhkdesigns.etsyATgmailDOTcom
and I will email you the set from yesterday!!!

Today we're sharing the "Simply Santa" set...

Since the holiday season is fast approaching, at least in the crafting world, I thought I'd make up a mini set with a fun vintage Santa image!  I think he is ever so jolly, don't you?  Take a peek at what I created with this set + a SNEAK PEEK of digital papers to come later this year...

I really LOVE the Santa image from Simply Santa set, and I wanted to color him in a bit uniquely.  I was going for a Santa that was bathing in the multi colored lights of a Christmas tree...but I'm not sure if I really like the way that the image turned out.  I kept him the way he was, though, because I thought one of you might like him! ;)

I added the sentiment as an anchor towards the bottom of the card.  This digital paper will be in the store SOON...with more holiday prints...so stay tuned!

I used a doily, some buttons, rhinestones, and felt pieces to embellish my card.  I used colors to mirror the ones used on the image for the "holly" berries.  I really think this turned out so fun--I hope you do, too!  Please leave me a comment below to let me know what you think!

Jane Austen Inspired

Hello, friends!  I hope your week is going great and that you've taken some time to craft! ;)  I'm here today with a card for the C.R.A.F.T challenge--INSPIRED BY A MOVIE.  Great Impressions is sponsoring this time, so hop over for a chance to win some free stamps!  Come and take a peek at my card...

I was inspired by the movie Emma, based on the book by Jane Austen.  Technically, I believe my card could be inspired by any Jane Austen novel set as a movie, but I chose Emma. ;)  I started by stamping and head embossing the main image, H147 Romantic Collage, onto some distressed looking patterned paper.  I then used a water color pen to watercolor the image using pink, green, blue, and brown inks.  This was fussy cut before it was added to the card.

Next, I created a card base that included patterned paper, a doily, some pearls and rhinestones, and the sentiment (E859 Forever Yours) head embossed directly onto the base.  A couple of pearls were added behind the image.  A piece of lace was added to the heart shaped pin to fill in more of the blank space and add texture.

After it was all put together, I questioned my decision to mat the patterned paper with brown paper.  I'm thinking now black would have been better, but I don't know.  All in all, I think this card came together rather well!  What do you think?  I'd love to hear your opinion in the comments below!

That's all for me today!  I hope you hop over and play along with this week's C.R.A.F.T. challenge for a chance to win some goodies from Great Impressions!  Thank you SO much for stopping by today--I very much appreciate your visits and kind words.  Until next time, HUGS and happy stamping, friends! :)
