This fortnight, The Craft Barn wants us to alter something on a "V" page. I choose to do Valentine as February is drawing near. There will definitely be a learning curve on my pages as this is the first time I've attempted this type of inkiness, so please bear with me!
Here are the complete pages I altered~
Details~
For these fabulous challenges~
I chose Valentine.
The book itself is vintage, I used
vintage style images and papers as well.
I must learn to embrace this old book
or I may throw it out from all the sneezing. ;)
Also, I've had these stamps for some time
now and some of them have never seen ink
until tonight--hooray for them, and the
scraps of paper I found at the bottom
of my scrap drawer!
scraps of paper I found at the bottom
of my scrap drawer!
I started by highlighting and drawing a heart around the entry I wanted to focus on: Valentine, Saint. I then brayered my page with a medium pink in a random fashion. I then spritzed two tones of red ink with an ink spraying tool from Stampin' Up!. After that, I randomly stamped some images in different colors. After doing this, I spritzed both pages with some homemade glimmer mist. I let the pages dry for a bit and then I decided to add a ribbon down the page for a sort of faux bookmark. I like the way it looks and will probably do it on each of my pages this year so that I'll know which pages were done in 2013. Some bits of patterned paper were placed on lastly. Voila!
Thank you so very much for stopping by to take a peek! If you have any constructive criticism, I would love to hear what I could do to make my next pages better! I hope you join in these amazing challenges! Happy inking! :)
what a beautiful page. so pleased i have inspired you to start art journaling. leave me a link in the blog comments post and i will hop over and look at your work. thanks for joining in. x
ReplyDeleteI think your pages are just fab, I love the collage effect and the colours - although it's pink based it's not cute IYKWIM. I'm thinking of putting tabs in for each letter but I'm still thinking of options.
ReplyDeleteWell done you, what a way to go instead of sleep.
ReplyDeletehugs Kimx
You really have created a lovely journal page from the encyclopaedia.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing with us at FlonzCraft Vintage Stamping challenges this month.

ReplyDeleteOh what fun! Fabulous inkiness, Mynnette! hugs, Lesley
ReplyDeleteThankd for your comment on my Feeling Sketchy Valentine card! It was fun to make. I will try to find the two challenges you mentioned and see what I can do. TERRIFIC "V" page! Nice stamp collages and inking. I'm particularly fancying the left page ... I think because it has more color. I have some old books that I bought at a thrift store for decoration. They aren't yet vintage enough to be overly fragile and they don't make me sneeze. Heehee! I think I'll use one of them to give this idea a go! It looks like fun! I follow Andy Skinner and he often has workshops at the Craft Barn (if it's the same store.) I'm across the pond so I'm not privy to that info. Thanks again! :)
ReplyDeleteoh ce que c'est chouette! très original! biz
ReplyDeleteWay to go Mynnette!! Love that you are pushing your own boundaries - this is definitely the time to do it and what a great challenge to do it with. Love your first pages - and what matters is what you think of it. My advice would be to look at what the other participants are producing and see what you like about them. There are some amazing crafters taking part in this challenge so you can't fail to be inspired. Looking forward to seeing your next instalments. Hugs, Jenny x
