House of Cards: Silhouette

Hi, all!  It's time for another monthly challenge over at House of Cards, and this month we're asking you to create something based on the word SILHOUETTE.  This could be a card using a silhouette image, a card made using your Silhouette machine...SO many options!  I hope you play along!  Take a peek at what I created...

My first idea for silhouette was to create a faux cameo.  I knew that the Stencil in the Roses set from MHKDesigns would be PERFECT for the task, so I recolored one of the images to be purple (my favorite color) and then die cut it into a circle shape.  I then layered the image onto a gold paper circle cut using the same dies.

I added glossy accents over the top of both to create a beautiful shiny finish.  I used the Easter Flowers paper pack and more gold paper for the card base, and added a gold die cut doily (cut using the Vintage Lace Motifs dies from Spellbinders) and lots of bling around the image.

Instead of keeping the card just a simple circle, I chose to make it into an easel card.  The sentiment is on the inside and comes from the Stencil in the Roses set from MHKDesigns.  More Easter Flowers paper and gold cardstock bring the outside design to the inside for cohesion.

I am really in love with the way this turned out!  I think it looks like either an over-sized pendant or else an elegant compact.  What do YOU think?!  I would love to hear your comments in the space below! :)

Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by today, friends!  I hope you take some time to craft and join us at House of Cards!  Don't forget to stop by the other DT member's blogs--they will blow you away with their creativity, just like they do me each month!  Until next time, HUGS and happy stamping, friends! :)
