Golden Anniversary

I think it's amazing when a couple has been married for 50 years.  It's most definitely a reason to celebrate, don't you think?!  I cannot wait to spend eternity with my dear love.  We've only been married for eight years, so 42 more years until our golden wedding anniversary!  Speaking of golden anniversaries, I've created a card for just such an occasion...

I've used glitter paper by DCWV, black and white cardstock plus a heart punch by Stampin' Up!, Versamark ink, gold embossing powder, outside sentiment by Stampin' Up!, and inside sentiment by unknown...

This card came together rather slowly even though I had the idea in my brain...I think I may try another one later on, but it's late and so this shall do for now!  I do like it!

Make My Monday: Christmas Bingo

Well, this is our last challenge for 2012 at Make My Monday!  We're going to be taking a bit of a rest over the Christmas holiday so that we can spend time with our family and friends.  We hope that all of you have a fabulous holiday!

This was a quick card because I wanted to make it easy to reproduce.  Just some patterned paper, a dry embossed strip, a bit of ribbon, finishing touches, and a sentiment!  Voila!

I decided to focus what's on the inside of a Christmas cracker--confetti, streamers, and glitter!  That's what I used to make my card!  I hope you can read my glittery sentiment...it was quite hard to photograph!

Blue: Many Meanings

Well, I was hoping to post this yesterday, but today seems more appropriate with recent happenings.  I'm not sure how many of you have heard, but there was a shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut today.  As an educator, I am shocked and horrified by this.  I know that words don't help very much, but this is what I posted on my Facebook account today and would like to share it in case anyone affected by this tragedy is reading my post.  I wrote:

"I don't know exactly what to say about the senseless tragedy that occurred today. I hope that the families of all involved can find peace in the Atonement of our Savior and that they can heal. I hope that the families that lost children will be able to know they are loved and are now in the arms of a loving God and a Savior who also loves them. I hope that those that have to endure life with the memory of this horrendous act will be able to turn their hearts toward heaven and know that He can bear their burden and guide them to peace. Words are not adequate. I wish I could be there to give hugs, meals, shed tears with my brothers and sisters, and try to fill the void that has been created during this Christmas season. ♥"

With that said, I'd like to share a card that I made yesterday in honor of the amazing children that I have the privilege to work with. For those of you who don't know, my REAL job is working with children who have special needs.  There are 8 amazing kids in my class and each of them has a different disability that they have to endure while here on earth.  This card is for them and for all the amazing people I know and love who have special needs.

The color for Autism awareness is blue.  That is immediately what I thought of when I saw the challenge over at ADFD.  I remembered that I had the gorgeous "Blossoms for a Cause" digi and new that I had to use it.  Technically not all of the students in my class are diagnosed with Autism, but I feel that this card is still a fitting tribute to all the special children and adults that I have come to know over my few years of working with people who have special needs.  They are ALL a blessing in my life and each of them has taught me some very important lessons--the most important one is that God loves ALL of His children and wants ALL of us to be happy and return to live with Him.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.  Your visits mean the world to me!  I feel so blessed to be able to share what I love with such amazing people!  I do hope that you'll come and join in these amazing challenges.  I also hope that you'll take the time to say a prayer of comfort for those mourning the loss of loved ones and a prayer of thanksgiving for all the loved ones you have in your life.  Please go hug them.  Forgive those who have hurt you, move on.  Tell those you have hurt how sorry you are and that you will resolve to better starting now.  Love each and every person in your life.  You never know how much longer they will be in it.  Blessed stamping, friends.

Card Two: One Layer Peace on Earth

Okay, so I'm back again!  This time with another holiday card.  The next one is a Valentine! ;)  This one is not.  It's a one layer card that I had the hardest time getting right.  I killed an entire tree trying to make this card.  Or rather, in the process of GETTING to this card...but it was worth it!

I think the best gift that we can be given and receive is peace.  I'm not talking about the peace that would make everyone in the world get along and stop killing each other.  That is not going to happen any time soon.  I'm talking about the peace that comes from living a good life and doing what you know God wants you to do.  That kind of peace can be found in making sure you do better each day--even if it's only a little bit better.  It comes from loving the people you live with and those within your sphere of influence.  One of my favorite quotes is by Mahatma Ghandi and is very thought provoking.  He said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."  Peace on earth starts in our hearts and in our homes.  I hope that as you enjoy this holiday season, you can find the peace that comes from the Love of the Lord and take that Love and make the changes in your life that will make you happier.  Your happiness is only dependent on one factor--you.
