OLW #60
Okay. I LOVE this blog: Simplicity. I love love love LOVE L O V E her blog! I love her style and just everything. So I am now officially participating in OLW!!! OLW stands for One Layer Wednesday. You make a card that is....one layer. Self explanatory, right? She gives us the inspiration and we create!
Here's my first creation for this week's challenge:
Yeah, I guess it's okay, but I wasn't feelin' it. So I made THIS one:
CLOSER, but still not happy. Luckily, one of my peeps was over and suggested some changes. I obeyed, and I got THIS one:
SUCCESS! I know that it doesn't technically overlap and therefore doesn't technically fit the criteria, but come on! CUTE!
Here's a close up:
I really love this sentiment and I love the image. I hope I've inspired you to check out this awesome blog and to play along with us! Happy OLWing! :)

New Tag Line
So...I don't know how many of you are "religious" followers of my blog, but I change my design and title...a lot...
Anyway, the other day, I was talking to myself (I do this quite often--because I tend to give myself good ideas!), and I thought, "I'm the GOOD kind of crafty!" I immediately chuckled to myself--I crack myself up quite a bit sometimes...
Anyway, this whole story is to explain my tag line: "Becoming the GOOD kind of crafty." I think it quite punny, don't you?
I hope you take the time today to realize that creating is NOT just crafts--it is as simple as creating an atmosphere of love in your home or creating a really yummy sandwich...
I hope you are inspired to create something to the BEST of your ability today! Happy creating!!!!!

If I NEED it, I CUTIFY it!
So, I NEEDed new oven covers. But everywhere I turned, there just weren't any that were cute enough for me. I know, I'm difficult...
So, what is a girl to do? MAKE THEM HERSELF! Come on, ladies! We're all crafty! If we need something "cutiefied" (new word), then who are we to stand in the way of crafting progress?!
Here's all I did: I bought WHITE oven covers. I cut out circles using my circle scissor plus thingy from two different green patterned papers (my retro oven and stove are a nice green...), faux mod podged them to the covers, and voila! Here is the final product! I don't mean to toot my own horn, but they turned out stinkin' cute!
SO...here's to all of the cutiefying we can do in the world! Who's with me?! That's right--all of you!!!!! I hope you take the time today to cutiefy something in your world! Happy crafting!

Just a Little Note...
I like to give out "just a little note"s. (Is that proper grammar, or whatever?!) Anyway, this is one that I thought turned out very cute--I dry embossed the card itself, punched out a bunch of flowers from glitter paper and added brads. I popped them onto the card. It needed a sentiment, so I used "just a little note" and backed it with more glitter paper. I think it turned out quite nicely, and it was well received by the recipient. :) I hope you take the time to let someone you know that you're there by sending "just a little note" today! Happy stamping!

Cirtrusy Summer!
So, I LOVE this stamp set--if you do, too, get it before it goes! It's being retired at the end of June!
Anyway, this is my summer go-to stamp set. I love that I can use the "orange" image to create any citrus fruit, and I love that I can accent it with glitter or a white gel pen to add more dimension quickly.
This is a card I made to welcome someone to church. I feel that welcoming people is very important--it is what Christ would do if He were here! I hope you take the time today to find someone who can use a little bit of welcoming and send them something you create! Happy crafting!

Needed Inspiration
I was wanting to send out some thinking of you cards, but I was in a rut and needed some inspiration. So, I went through this years Sale-a-bration catalog, and there it was! I changed the colors and made the card smaller, but it is essentially the same card. :) I feel that it is totally ok to CASE anything I need--so feel free to copy my cards--just please do not submit them for contests or prizes. :) Hopefully you're inspired to create today!!! Happy crafting!

Well if there's Christmas in July...
...and Thanksgiving daily, then I declare it to be Halloween in June! Here's why:
I had these two marshmallow fluff jars sitting in a cupboard, waiting to be "used." For years. And years...about 4 to be exact! So, as I was cleaning out that cupboard, I gave myself an ultimatum: USE 'EM OR LOSE 'EM!
Here's the final (?) product. All I did was take white tissue paper and brayer it orange, tear it into pieces and faux mod podge it to the jars.
Then, I drew and cut out the faces and adhered them to the jar.
They needed the lids, so I painted them green.
Here's the thing, should I use some toilet paper rolls to create stems?! If so, HOW?! Please help me! Comments and suggestions are very welcome today!!! Happy sharing!!!

Father's Day 2011
So, I wanted something different for a Father's Day card this year. As my husband and I do not have children, and I realize he is still a father to all the kids he comes in contact with, I wanted it to be more of an expression of gratitude for the things he does for me--because part of being a good father is being a good husband.
I also didn't want to have to make three different cards for my husband, my father and my father-in-law. So...this is what I came up with! The only difference between my husband's card and the other two is that the inside says, "Thank you for being my home," instead of "Thank you for making our house a home," implying that my husband is my heart.
Corny? Yes! And I love it! And especially HIM!!! I hope that you have a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY and that you take the time to thank all the father figures in your life! Happy crafting!

A Birthday Wish
Here's a card I made for a dear and long time friend who had a birthday this month. She loves butterflies and she loves purple, pink and blue. So I combined all these elements when making this card. I also wanted to make it VERY girly--because she is definitely a girly girl! Hence, ribbon, rhinestones and an eyelet border punch.
I like to make sure that my birthday cards, or just cards in general, reflect the personality of the one receiving them. I think this helps the receiver to feel even more special. I hope you take the time today to create something for someone that you love! Happy creating!

A Rainbow of Colors
Here is a quick and simple CAS, one layer card. Same layout, just different colors (why not use all of them if you have them?). My favorite is the yellow, my husband likes the orange. I really love using this stamp set (Apple Blossoms--same set I used to make some of my awesome magnetic bookmarks found here) to make CAS cards and projects. It's bold images make it easy to do a quick card! I hope it inspires you to create TODAY! :) Happy stamping!

Fab Frame Embellishment!
My awesome boss is letting each of us have a shelf to decorate in our classroom next year so that we can have more of a home away from home feel to our work area. Of course, I need pretty things to put up!
So...I found a wedding picture that I forgot about (and LOVE), put it into a white frame, added flowers of our wedding colors--and here is the finished product! I LOVE it!!! It was way quick and easy, and I already had the stuff to make it in my craft area (I'm trying to buy less, and use what I already have more).
I hope that this inspires you to prettify (my new word...) something you see each day! I know if you do you'll smile each time you see it. Happy prettyfying! ;)

Free Inspirational Quote
I love Helen Keller. She is a hero of mine. I just really love people who overcome exceedingly hard "problems" (even though they don't see them as problems) to become an inspiration to those around them. I love the thought that when one door closes, a window opens (or whatever it is) so when I saw this quote, I knew I had to make a printable of it. I also had a goal to use some of the digital scrapbooking elements and papers that I haven't ever used. Voila--here is the end product! And it's yours, FREE! Just right click and save! Happy printing!

Silly Key Chain...
My dad needed a key chain because, you see, he was still using the paper tag from the oil change place as his key chain! I told him I could make one for him, he told me he didn't want a girly key chain. My first instinct was to make one OVERLY girly, because I knew he'd think that was funny. But when I searched through my stamps, I found an old retired SU! teacher set that I had and haven't really used. One of the images was a turtle with the phrase, "Slow down, be careful" with it. I thought that would strike my father as funny--because he is a
S L O W driver (we get mad at him sometimes...). So, this is what I came up with!
It was SUPER easy to make! I just stamped my saying onto cardstock and punched it out with my SU! punches, then glued them into some of my SU! hodgepodge hardware accessories. Next, I punched out a patterned paper piece, added my cut out turtle image and glues the into the other side of the hodgepodge hardware. I poured Elmer's glue into each side and let them dry, creating an enamel finish. My dad loved it! I love it, too! I'll definitely be making more in the future! I hope this inspires you to create today! Happy stamping!

Butterflies
Here's one of my latest jewelry endeavors--a rainbow butterfly bracelet! I added one of the butterfly beads as a charm to add a little more whimsy. I love making these for other people--they are way simple and quick to make. I think I enjoy making bracelets more than any other type of jewelry because they are so quick and easy, so you get your end result when you want is (aka NOW). :) I hope you take the time to make something pretty today! Happy beading!
