MHKDesigns: He Is Risen

It's time for a new release at MHKDesigns and the MHKDesigns Etsy Shop has been stocked with the new digital stamp set and digital paper packs!  Today we are showcasing the *NEW* He Is Risen set.  Take a peek at what I made...

I decided to keep the focus on the image from the He Is Risen set.  I printed it off, then colored it in with Spectrum Noir markers.  I went with an orange lily, even though the traditional Easter ones are lighter.  I like the POP of color off the black and white patterned paper. :)

The sentiment was printed onto vellum, then added to the panel and some orange rhinestones help to keep it in place.  I varied the size in order to add more interest.

Instead of making this into a card, I chose to frame my finished panel.  This will be up in my home during the Easter season.  What do you think of the finished product?  I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

So, now that we have that out of the way, let's talk about how to get this new set OR the entire release for FREE!  Here's what you'll need to do...
  1. Comment on the MHKDesigns blog.
  2. Comment on each DT member's blog.

I'll be choosing comments randomly from all these places after the release is over, and the authors of those comments will be our winners!  So, the best way to win is to comment every day!  We LOVE the feedback you give us! :)  Here's the list of blogs for you to visit each day...

Welcome Home!

Hello again, friends!  I hope your holiday season is going well--MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!  I've got another banner to share with you today as well as another piece of artwork with the same "theme".  My sister recently returned home from an 18 month mission in Brazil and so, of course, I had to make some fun banners, etc., to welcome her home!  Come see the banner...

My sister love bright colors, so that was my starting point.  I die cut some Smoky Slate cardstock and patterned papers from my scrap drawer using Stampin' Up! banner dies.  I then layered these together and put them in a pattern-ish.  I added flowers held together with Stampin' Up! brads from my stash to the "space" banners, you know, where there should be a space between words?

The words were created by cutting out letters with my Silhouette.  The letters are cut out of Basic Gray cardstock and layered onto punched circles of Basic Black cardstock.  These are added to the banners, but first washi tape was layered to create an artsy feel.

The pieces were all punched and then reinforced with colorful hole reinforcers from my stash.  The banner was tied together with green, yellow, and white baker's twine also from my stash.  The sentiment is "Love you Abbie".  Abbie is my sister's name. ;)

After I finished the banner, I looked at the paper that the letters were cut out of and I couldn't bring myself to throw it away.  Instead, I used the scraps of patterned paper from the banner and washi tape to create a fun framed piece of art that matches the banner.  The wood frame was covered with washi tape to make it a bit more whimsical.  Sequins were used for the "holes" in the letters and for a bit of embellishment.

Thank you for stopping by today and MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE to you all!  I hope you spend the next few days surrounded by loved ones and that, if you have time, you join in the fun with the challenges I'm linking with.  HUGS and MERRY crafting to you all!

Crafty Cardmakers: Time in a Bottle

Well, this is our last challenge for 2012 at Crafty Cardmakers!  I hope you'll join in--we've got such a wonderful challenge for you!  We'd like to see what you do with the words from the song "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce.  The words to the song are on the challenge blog.  There is SO much inspiration!

We're sponsored this time around

Here's my creation~

Details~

I took my inspiration from the last verse and main message of the song--finding someone to spend all of time with.  I am so grateful to have my husband for time AND eternity and so I created a frame to house a recent picture of us at my sister's wedding.  Aren't we pretty? ;)

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek--I hope you come and play along with us!  While you're at it, please stop and say hello to the other DT gals as well!  Happy creating! :)

Goodwill Finds!!!

Okay, so I came home from the Goodwill today and told my DH that I'd found a bunch of cool stuff to re-purpose. And you know what he said to me?! "Oh, is THAT the politically correct way to say recycle now?" Why, YES, it is, DH! ;) So, I thought I'd just show you my finds. I'll be posting projects I re-purpose from these items later on...

Here is the first group of finds--not really re-purpose-ful, but good deals anyway.~

My favorite painting is Starry Night, so this $5 canvas of part of it was too hard to pass up.~

I've been really stressed lately, so I got this book to give me some ideas on how to focus. $0.99!~

These are prints of a young Jesus being taught by his parents by Simon Dewey were a steal at $1.49 each, and they'll look fabulous re-framed and in my nursery.~

Here's the second group--ready for repurposing!~

Three different beaded projects that will be dismantled and remade into heaven know what at the moment. $2.50 for all of them~

I fell in love with this print because it looks like something out of Jane Austen's life. I've been wanting to do a Jane Austen journal for a while, and once I get PTI's Simply Jane set, I'll be ready! The print will be the cover and the frame re-purposed somehow. $2.99~

So, I got out of there with all this plus a new shirt (literally--brand new!) and a few more books for only $25!!! What have YOU found today that can be repurposed?! Happy crafting! :)

Fab Frame Embellishment!

My awesome boss is letting each of us have a shelf to decorate in our classroom next year so that we can have more of a home away from home feel to our work area. Of course, I need pretty things to put up!

So...I found a wedding picture that I forgot about (and LOVE), put it into a white frame, added flowers of our wedding colors--and here is the finished product! I LOVE it!!! It was way quick and easy, and I already had the stuff to make it in my craft area (I'm trying to buy less, and use what I already have more).

I hope that this inspires you to prettify (my new word...) something you see each day! I know if you do you'll smile each time you see it. Happy prettyfying! ;)
