House of Cards: Food Image and/or Color Inspiration

Hi, all!  It's time for another monthly challenge at House of Cards, and I do hope you play along!  We've got a fun challenge for you this month--we're asking you to be inspired by either the colors in our inspiration, use a food image, or do both!  Take a peek at the inspiration...

I chose to go with the colors in the inspiration.  I wanted to make try shaping my own paper flower for a card.  I've done this before, but I wanted to make it really fancy. ;)  My inspiration was DT member Gracie's YouTube channel.  Take a peek at my card...

I created a video on how to make this flower, and you can find it HERE, or watch on the House of Cards blog in the current challenge post.  I added some cheesecloth and gold elastic cording behind the flower for more texture.  I am so pleased with this flower!

The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps, from the Safe Harbour Sentiments stamp set.  I did a little selective inking so that the nautical element from the sentiment was not included in the stamping. :)  I was stamped onto some silver shimmer cardstock.  I created the frame using the Deco Labels die set from Stampin' Up! and some gold glitter paper from CutCardStock.

I dry embossed some Fine Gold metallic cardstock for my card panel and then added some pearls from Want 2 Scrap.  This was all matted onto some Silver metallic cardstock and put onto a card base.  I am very pleased with this card!  What do you think?  Please let me know in the comments below!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I am SUPER excited about our challenge this month, and I hope you play along!  Join us HERE, and make sure to leave some love with the other gals on this amazing team!  We have some FABULOUS new gals this term, and I know you'll love what they've created--PLUS, we have a new look!  Until next time, HUGS and happy stamping, friends!

Hi, friend!! Oh, boy, it's been ages since I've last visited, but it's been so cold here and the study where I have my computer and craft area are the coldest part of the house and most of the time it's freezing in here!!! So I rather spend time in the lounge knitting in the winter sun or in the family room in front of the fire!!!! But I miss my friends and making cards, so I've put on a lot of clothes to keep me warm enough to spend the Sunday evening in Blogland!!!
And the flower on your card is sooooo pretty, I had to watch the video!!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to show how you made it!!! Will have to give it a try at some stage!!!! Your card is so beautiful - I love how you have used the colours!!!! That flower really pops against the yellow, gold and white!!!! And with a closer look I see the silver mat - lovely!!! Love the texture of the cheesecloth!!! The pearls are beautiful combined with all the rest!!! This is really such a beautiful card, Mynn, I think it's my new fave from you!!!! Love it!!!!
