Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #60: Use Beads

I was so glad to get the opportunity to use my SU! Pretties Kit--it's been sitting on the shelf getting dusty just DREAMING of this day! I used a hat pin and beads from the kit with a piece of soft white ribbon at the top to accent my sentiment. The sentiment is another stamp from the Tagtastic Hostess set from Stampin' Up! I really like that this sentiment is a bunch of little dots--it looks so cool! I thought that since the sentiment was made up of dots, that I should use dots as my theme--so I went a little polka dot crazy! :) It was fun, though, and I think the card turned out nicely. Make My Monday: Flowers & Leaves

Nature. Flowers & leaves. Yep, that's the new theme over at Make My Monday! We'd like to see some cards with flowers and/or leaves.

This is one of my favorite layouts because it's so versatile! You can stamp the strips, use strips of patterned paper, ribbon, anything! And I'm very happy with the images I chose because bling was so easy to add bling to! And you all know how much I love bling! :)

52 CCT Theme Challenge #1

Welcome again to another fabulous 52CCT challenge! Yep, you're still stuck with me as hostess this week--sorry, January is long when I'm in charge! ;) This week is a theme challenge, and I've chosen to make you all create something with Christmas Flowers! :) Pop on over to Jacqueline's blog for two more fabulous cards, as well! Well, what are your thoughts? I prefer the poinsettia pot, myself. It turned out more gorgeous than I thought it would. Seriously. I'm having issues and it almost made me cry, I was so happy with it! Maybe I need medication...we'll leave that to the experts! I tried to take pictures to show off the shine, as I used silver embossing and a glitter gel pen AND rhinestone. LOT's of shine...didn't come out well in the pics. Oh, well! ;) Many thanks to my good friend, Jeni, for suggesting PINK poinsettias--much prettier than any other color for this card! Merry stamping, friends!!!

A little bit of this and that and the other...

Yes. Marathon stamping. It's been the only way this week! I do not like to combine cards and challenges in one post, but here I am doing it again for the second time this week! Please bear with me! I'm hoping next week will be less hectic as I am no longer as under the weather. :)

I only have three cards to show you. The first one is for a redo of the CR84FN color challenge. I made a Faith Journal for this challenge originally. I had made some extra butterflies with crackle accents that I had put on them. My original intent was to use them on the journal, but they took too long to dry and I was going to toss them out. BUT, fate intervened and when I went down to tidy up my workspace, I saw them as I was tossing them and realized that they looked amazing! :) How could I have almost tossed them?! Take a look!!!

The second card is for this week's Stamptacular Sunday~Texture challenge as well as this week's CAS-ual Friday challenge~Penguin suit. This means one could ONLY use black and white--NO OTHER COLOR. Not even a smudge. Well, I had a lot of fun with this one--I got to use my favorite double embossing technique (heat embossed image run through a dry embossing machine)! This adds LOTS of texture to your image or panel. I run my image through the dry embossing a few ties to make the heat embossing crack--it gives an aged and distressed feel to your image. :) I liked how it turned out so much, that I made a bookmark to go along with it so I could have a small gift for the recipient of the card. Or me. You know...whatever! ;)

The third and final card I have to show you tonight is for the Top Tip Tuesday ~Sketch challenge (I've opted for the clean and simple challenge), the Creative Card Crew~Seeing Red challenge, and the Gingersnap Creations~Favorite DSP challenge. I LOVE DCWV (Die Cuts With a View) papers. I own about 20 stacks from them. Probably more! This card was made with all DCWV paper except the white card base. I really love the special DSPs that they have--the one with the fruit is from a stack with glossy & glitter accents, meaning the strawberries are glittered AND glossed!!! FABULOUS!!! I just love the way this card's turned out! :) My TIP for TTT is that when doing a CAS style card, it's easy to add texture with a very subtle background DSP as I've done. It looks enough like "white" space, but adds a bit of fun and richness that wasn't there before. The paper I used was made to mimic the look and texture of a real strawberry and tie the images into the card as a whole. Did it work?! :)

Hello! Sorry for the silence yesterday. Rough day. Rough night. It's been a rough couple of...years. ANYWAY, this is my weekly project for "Spread the L-O-V-E"! It's a faith journal that I've made for a friend who is in need of a little pick me up. :)

My First Make It Monday!!!

Well, I decided to take a leap of faith. I have admired all the MIM techniques and have wanted to play along, but all I have are two packages of Papertrey Ink patterned papers. Sooo...I'm using them on these cards so that I can play along! Hopefully that's okay for this week? I will be placing a large PPI order as soon as I can get my DH to acquiesce. Might just have to be my Valentine's present...in advance! They have the most AMAZING Jane Austen stamp set....TOTALLY in my cart right now...along with some other fabulous products. ;)

Okay, so back to the point. This week, the talented Betsy is teaching us how to do Ghost Masking....soooo fun. Soooo hard for me...and so I decided to keep the layout the same in order to not complicate this more than I did. Yep. I DO tend to make things more difficult than they have to!

Now, I don't have a border for my Nestabillities, and so I had to free hand it. It's too clunky too me. AND, I forgot to stamp off the first leaf branch that I restamped...did you even notice? I DO. ALSO, the sentiment looks cool, but doesn't really fit with the theme of the card. What was I thinking?! BTW, I had to use some specialty pearly paper because I went down to craft only to find out that I'm OUT OF WHITE CARDSTOCK. What?! But it looks cool...okay, so after this semi-disaster, I decided to have another go. SOOOOOO LOVE the second one!

Ah. Much better! I think it is so pretty!!! The frame is once again free handed--but less chunkily. And I got to use my new set from Pink Paislee's Nantucket line. LOVE it! :) I'm also submitting this second card into the JUGS collage challenge, the Gingersnaps challenge to use a line or set (NEW Pink Paislees! :) ) and the Prairie Fairy Friday California Dreaming challenge (whenever I think about CA, I think of the sea!).
