Some pretty flowers...

Hello!  I've been so preoccupied with other items of blog business that I haven't had a chance to create something spontaneously...or rather based on challenges I'd like to participate in!  So, I took some time this evening to do so!  I'm really happy with my card and so I've got lots of pictures of detail...let's see what I created!

So, I decided to make my own patterned paper and I was inspired by the flowers on the tea set in the inspiration photo at colourQ and I knew that I wanted to try and capture something similar.  But I didn't necessarily want a vintage card.  I wanted to keep it simpler.

Enter the Array of Sunshine set by Stampin' Up!  It was really easy to create a background with the bold images in this set!  I tried to balance the colors by having one main color and highlighting with the others.  I feel that this card is well balanced color-wise and I love the layout--thanks to Retro Sketches!

52CCT: Eyelets

Eyelets.  Have you used them recently?  I haven't!  I'm pretty sure the last time I used them was...a really long time ago. ;)  Anywho, that's the embellishment we are looking for this week over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown!!!

I've used 8 eyelets on the card and given my Crop-a-dile some well deserved exercise!  I think that I need to start using eyelets more...now that I remember how to USE my Crop-a-dile! ;)  But my favorite part of this card?  The poinsettias in the image.  I LOVE the way they turned out with just a hint of pink color and a rhinestone center!

I decided to not add a sentiment in order to give the beautiful image the attention it deserves!  Using glitter gel pen also highlight's it's beauty!  I used the red glitter gel pen to create my faux stitching...I think it turned out rather well!!!

This sketch was a bit tough for me.  I don't know why!  BUT, once I embraced it, the card came together amazingly and it looks pretty darned good if I do say so! ;)

Make My Monday: VINTAGE/CHILDHOOD

Well, I'm back to working full time.  So, I'm sorry, but you'll see less of me.  I'm sure it's not gonna ruin your life, but I will miss interacting with you all as much as I've gotten to over the last few months!  Anyway, we've got another fabulous VINTAGE challenge for you over at Make My Monday!  We'd like to see some projects that relate to CHILDHOOD but are still VINTAGE in feel.

Nothing says childhood to me like Halloween!  And when I saw this darling image I knew I had to use it!  I started by saturating the picture with pearl glimmer mist.  And yes, I mean SATURATING.  I sprayed it about 20 times.  I used a heat gun to dry it, cut it into different sized "tiles" and then sponged around each piece to create a faux tile look.  I then glued the pieces back together on a piece of brown cardstock and added some ribbon. I then placed some rhinestones on the image randomly for some glam and added it to my card.  I realized I didn't have a sentiment, and so I added the sentiment at the very end...with MUCH trepidation!  But it worked!

Details~

I decided to use up some of my Pink Paislee stash and some Prima rhinestones to create this card.  I LOVE the way it turned out!  The bright colors are fresh and happy...and I only had to use black ink for stamping which made this card relatively easy to make!
