The Stamps of Life: Butterfly Birthday

Hi, friends!  Happy Monday! ;)  I hope you had a great weekend.  Mine was ok, but I've been battling a stomach bug the past few days.  Luckily, my essential oils have helped me feel WAY better than I would feel without them!  Anyway, I do have a card to share with you, so come and take a peek...

I started by creating the focal image with the Sizzix Triplits Butterfly dies and Licorice cardstock from The Stamps of Life. The pink glitter paper is from DCWV. Some black rhinestones and enamel dots were added for more shine and color.

I then stamped images and sentiment from the chalksayings2stamp with Licorice ink and Artichoke ink onto Powdered Sugar cardstock.  The banner was cut out and dimensionalized like the butterfly onto the main panel, which was layered onto more Licorice cardstock.  I did some faux stitching for some added texture, too.

I decided to angle the focal panel for more interest when adding it to my card base.  The card base was prepped with patterned paper from the Celebrate Collection Patterned Paper Pad and Powdered Sugar cardstock.  I think this is super fun and bright--what do you think?  I'd love to hear in the comments below!

Great Impressions: Mother's Day Lilacs

Hello again, friends!  I'm back with another card using stamps from the Great Impressions online store!  This week, the DT is featuring cards or tags for Mother's Day.  I've created a floral card, check it out...

I started by stamping the basket image, F166 Country Basket, and fussy cutting it out.  Part of D388 Warmth and Love was stamped and punched for a little tag.  Next, the floral image, J45 Lilac Blossoms, was stamped twice onto white cardstock.  I colored them in with Spectrum Noir markers.

I added a few butterflies to the top of my eclectic mod podge of elements.  I used a lot of layering on this card in hopes that it would look shabby chic. Lots of liquid pearls were added for some shine, as well.

I like the way this turned out!  I am not sure whose mother will be the recipient, but I hope she likes it, too!  What do you think?  I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. :)

Inspired By Stamping: Birthday Lilacs

Hi, all!  I'm back with an unusually shaped card that uses gorgeous products from the Inspired By Stamping online store.  The reason it's shaped the way it's shaped is so I could use up some cardstock that just wasn't quite the right size. ;)  Come and take a look...

I stamped the flower and butterfly images from the Spring Lilacs stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto watercolor paper and then watercolored the image.

I then added a sentiment from the same Spring Lilacs stamp set, cut to look like a banner.  The bottom of the card was gussied up with a punched border, ribbon, and rhinestones for some shine.

I think that the use of the black and kraft card really helps to highlight the watercolored images, don't you?  The rhinestones and metallic stitched ribbon adds the perfect amount of shine, too.  I hope you agree that this turned out nicely!  Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below. :)

Spring Lilacs stamp set

The Stamps of Life: Sweet

Hey, all! Hope you're having a SWEET weekend! I have a super quick, but very SWEET card to share with you using one of my favorite treats AND stamp sets--STRAWBERRIES!  Come and take a peek...

These fun images are from the strawberries2stamp and morestrawberries2stamp stamp sets from The Stamps of Life. They were stamped in Licorice and Strawberry ink onto Powdered Sugar cardstock. The smaller was die cut using the Strawberry Club Die Set and then added over the larger with dimensional foam.  A few rhinestones accent these SWEET berries.

The sentiment is from the chalksayings2stamp set.  I stamped and heat embossed it onto Licorice cardstock, then punched the edges like a banner.  More rhinestones were added for a bit more shine.

The card base was made from Licorice card and some patterned paper from the Celebrate Collection paper pad.  I just love the POP of red in the strawberries and all the sparkle in the rhinestones!  What do you think?  I'd love to hear what you think in the comments below!

CASE-ing Christmas: Silver Snow

Hello, all!  It's time for another challenge over at CASE-ing Christmas!  This week, we have a beautiful card by DT member Donna from which to be inspired!  Take a look at Donna's original card...

I loved the fun aperture layout and the wonderful scallops down the side.  The sentiment across the panel was also an inspiration.  These were the things that have influenced my CASE.  Come and see my creation...

I used a large scallop punch for my aperture and added a glittery silver snowflake to the center.  It's held in place by silver elastic cording.  The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse, the cardstock, glitter paper and punches are from Stampin' Up!, and the patterned paper is from DCWV.  Liquid pearls were used to add more shine to the scallop borders.

I love the wintry feel of the blues, don't you?  The glitter adds some festive shine, and the liquid pearls finish it off perfectly.  What do you think?  I'd love for you to let me know in a comment below!

The Stamps of Life: Hello

Hello, dear friends!  I'm back with another card, of course! ;)  This one uses some fabulous products from The Stamps of Life and was made for 3 amazing challenges...come and take a gander!

I started with some fun olive polka paper from the Celebrate Collection patterned paper pad and some Ocean cardstock.  I punched the card, added it to the polka dots, then popped it up onto a Gingersnap card base.  Next, I stamped the sentiment from the hello for Sizzix stamp set in Licorice ink onto a piece of Powdered Sugar card.  This was layered onto a piece of Ocean card and some baker's twine was added.  The sentiment was then added to the card base.

I then die cut some leaves out of Kiwi card and two flowers out of Powdered Sugar and Ocean card using the Sizzix Flower Layers & Leaf die set. I layered these pieces together and added a rhinestone flower to the center for a bit of shine.  This embellishment was then added to the card.

I really love these colors--SO glad I found this combo challenge!  What do you think about this card?  I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!

Inspired By Stamping: Masculine Sympathy Card

Hi, all!  I'm back with a very CAS card that uses products from the Inspired By Stamping online store.  Today, we are featuring masculine sympathy cards...take a peek at my creation...

This card was simple to make, but a bit difficult to execute because there's no room for messing up.  I started by stamping the lines from the Background Basics Lines stamp set in gray ink onto a white card base.  I then stamped a sentiment from the Vintage Dress Form stamp set on top in black. Some lines were dry embossed on either side of the stamped lines, and three black enamel dots were added.

Some noteworthy points about this card: First, make sure your clear blocks and acrylic stamps are cleaned well.  This will help you line up your sentiment perfectly.  Secondly, keeping the colors neutral help to convey the tone of the card.  The sentiment isn't necessarily a sympathy sentiment, but the colors tell the story.  Third, less is best when embellishing a masculine card.  So, what do you think of this one?  I'd love to hear your comments below!
