H{owl}oween!

So, I got the most darling owl set from the consignment sale the other day and I had to use it to make a Halloween card!  I'm thinking this will be the LAST Halloween card of the season as I'm a bit Halloween'd out...I've used inspiration from four fabulous challenges and I do like the end result.  I hope you will, as well!

Here's the card~

sketch #73

I was really inspired by the pennants in the photo at colourQ and so I decided to pull out my pennant punch and create a banner to mimic the band in the sketch.  Rhinestones seemed about the only embellishment that would do, so I added some and then sprinkled some more onto the starry sky in my image.  I've also used this month's technique at my Technique Tuesday challenge--BargelloMy TIP for creating a bargello background--make sure you use STRONG adhesive and glue down every single small piece.  Otherwise you'll have panels falling off of your card! You've got just about one day to create something fabulous in order to win a prize, so please check it out and play along!

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!  I hope you come and play along with all these fabulous challenges--I love seeing what other people create!  Happy stamping! :)

TSOT: Bird Cages of Happiness

Well, I finally got to use one of the newest stamp sets that I've purchased!  It's a set from Kaiser Kraft that features bird cages, hummingbirds, and butterflies along with beautiful foliage!  It worked really well with the sketch we've got for you this week at Try Stampin' on Tuesday!

Here's the sketch~

I stamped the large bird cage/foliage image onto some patterned paper and then added green butterflies and a red bird.  The happiness sentiment seemed perfect and I love the way the patterns mesh together!

Thanks for stopping by and saying hi! I really appreciate all your kind comments!  Please come and play along with us at TSOT--and say hello to the other DT gals as they've created amazing cards!  Happy stamping! :)

Happy Girls

"Happy girls are the prettiest." ~Audrey Hepburn

After some serious trials the past month, I needed this quote.  I am trying really hard to be happy in the face of adversity...but it is really hard. So, instead of focusing on the negative challenges in my life, I'm trying to focus on the positive crafty challenges available to me!  And I chose three challenges that seriously were pretty hard for me.  And I think I beat them! ;)  They are all pretty vintage challenges and I am NOT that good with this style, but I like to dabble.  You be the judge, but I am happy with my efforts! :)

For these fabulous challenges~

So, I bought some fabulous paper the other day at a craft garage sale/consignment sale and there was a few sheets in the mix that had the PERFECT colors for this color challenge as well as texted polka dots!  Match made in heaven!  I LOVE to stamp line images onto patterned paper, so that's what I did with this fun gal from Glitz Designs--she's in their "French Kiss" stamp set along with this amazing sentiment.  I added a bunch of different colored pearls and some ribbon, a flower, and some distressed leaves.  Did I forget anything?  Oh, yes.  A fun border punched out and then distressed and sponged with gray ink.  Voila!

Thanks for stopping by!  I really appreciate all of you coming here and I especially love and appreciate all the kind things you have to say about my creations.  I hope you come and join in these amazing challenges--especially if they really are a challenge to you like they were for me!  Happy stamping! :)

MMM: Francais Feminine/Romance

Well, it's a new month at Make My Monday!  This month our theme is FRANCAIS and this week we're looking for projects with an added theme of Feminine/Romance!

For this card, I a Prima image that doesn't get enough use and a French sentiment that means "Always."  Some vintage papers and some selective coloring, a few more embellishments and voila!

This card was fun to make.  I used a set of dies from Stampin' Up! and layered on panels.  My little reindeer is water colored and is oh so cute!  Some gold shimmery paper and pearls create a bit of elegance and I'm just really tickled with how nice this turned out! :)

Play time!!!

So, I have spent this day doing a bunch of administrative stuff on my blog but I have managed to schedule in some play time with my NEW STUFF and now I'm here to show you the result! :)  I've used a retired but new to ME stamp set from Stampin' Up! called Upsy Daisy and the baby wipe reinker pad technique.

Here's the result~

Details~

For these fabulous challenges~

I made a baby wipe reinker pad using the two different colors of ink.  I chose to stamp onto natural white cardstock and then distress the edges with kraft ink so that the colors stood out more.  I stamped the flower silhouette image twice and then chose which sections to use on my card.  I adhered them with a darker yellow mat behind and then added the sentiment and some pearls.  I'm quite happy with how it turned out! :)

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at my creation.  I hope you come and play along with these fabulous challenges!  Happy stamping! :)

The Mother Load

Nope.  There is absolutely no {ish} about this post.  I made out like a bandit at the bi-annual Scrap*Funattic garage sale!!!  I don't know if you remember, but last time I seriously got some good deals.  This time they weren't necessarily as drastically fabulous, but I still made out like a bandit!  I spent $39 and some change.  Ready to have your mind blown?!  I'll do a break down of the deals, too, leaving the best for last, of course! ;)  Thank you for indulging me in a seriously gloat filled post.  Please do not hate me.  Just come visit so we can go together in April! ;)

Here's the ML (Mother Load)~

And the deals~

$8 for 3 paper stacks

$6 for these two sets--the clear mount set is
a bunch of Valentine sentiments and images

$10 for these four set

$2 for 24 darling heart magnets (for school)

$1 for these adorable butterfly clips (possible bookmarks)

And now the BFL (Best For Last)~

$9 for this basket and its contents...

Which included ALL THESE STAMPS!!!
I'd say easily worth about $100?!  Maybe?!  Guesses?!

Okay, so do you think I did good?  I know, it's not like the $7 bag of $125 worth of stamps I found last time, but come on!  And the fun don't stop there!  I will be going next Friday for 1/2 price day!!!  That's right--anything left that is not marked pink will be 1/2 off!!!  So, stay tuned for more deals AND for cards using these stamps! ;)  Happy stamping!
