A Free Digi Frame

Well. You know that I don't use a bunch of digi images, but the one I've used tonight is really fun! It's a flowery frame from Bird House Stamps. And all of the images on this site are FREE!!! You should check them out--they're amazing! :)

Here's the card~

Details~

Isn't it a fun frame?! And perfect for a clean and simple card! I love the pop of bright colors along with the black! :) I heat embossed a bunch of butterflies at the bottom with clear embossing powder. I created a faux digi butterfly by stamping a butterfly from a stamp set, using a blender pen to make it look colored in instead of stamped, and outlining it with a fine black pen. Added some glitter a few rhinestones for some glimmer! :)

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:
Prairie Fairy Fridays~Spring Fling
Moving Along With the Times~Easter Wishes
Less is More~Take Three Challenges (I chose Week 3: Spring, Week 16: Butterflies, and Week 43: Bit of Bling)

Thanks for stopping by--happy stamping! :)

Water Coloring

Okay. This is my first attempt at water coloring...ever. I'm not even joking, folks. I have water color pens, and I've never used them! Which is why the challenge at Try It On Tuesday was so fabulous for me--they want us to water color! Well, count me in! I combined my water coloring with a ton of distressing, so this also qualifies for the current Prairie Fairy Friday challenge. Since I've used a vintage embossing folder pearls, and lace, I'm entering this into the Creative Card Crew challenge that calls for vintage creations. Now onto the card!

Here it is~

Details~

I started by dry embossing a white panel with a Tim Holtz folder. I then distressed the edges, crumpled it up, semi-flattened it, and water colored it with 6 different colors. Then I created my image panel by stamping the carnations and then water coloring around them. I then added shimmer with a Sakura clear glitter gel pen--my fave! I created the sentiment in the same way, and then put the card together!

Thanks to all for such fun challenges--I had a ton of fun making this card! I hope you'll join in our fun! :) Happy stamping!!!

Prairie Fairy Poppies

Hello again! I was so pleased to win an image from Prairie Fairy Friday's challenge for something 3D and Valentine related. To see the winning project, go here. :) I chose the amazing poppy image--I've already showed you something else I made with it, but I felt I needed to use it for my next submission to the Prairie Fairy Friday challenge! :) This week, they have a sketch!!!

Here's the sketch~

I did take a little bit of liberty--I added a sentiment and moved the paper pieces a bit. I also didn't add any "3" at the top as the polka dot paper didn't look right with anything...you'll see.

I'd also like to enter this into the Pile It On challenge "Spots or stripes or both!" As you'll be able to see, I've gone spots! ;)

Here's my card~

Details~

This is the fifth and last card that I made for a co-worker. She commissioned me to make 5 sympathy cards from me. She told me she's gonna let me know when she needs more cards--she was very happy with the other ones I've given her! :) This is the first time I've been paid to make cards for someone, so it was a really awesome experience!

I colored in the beautiful digi Poppies image with blender pens and SU! inks, then went over the lines with glitter gel pens to add more depth. What do you think? I hope you like it! I also hope you come and play along with Prairie Fairy Fridays! Happy stamping! :)

Upcycled Napkin Rings

Okay, so I have a bit of an interesting upcycle for you tonight! For our wedding, my DH and I were given a pair of odd napkin rings...

Here they are~

A bit clunky and awkward, ya know? I'm not even quite sure they were meant to be napkin rings, that was just how they were gifted/presented to us. And so I stored them. And forgot about them...for seven years.

So, anyway, late last year, my DH and I were going through all of our "stuff" to throw away things and send some to the Goodwill, and I found those crazy napkin rings again. I was going to donate them, but a little voice inside me said, "NO--you can use these!" That little voice was right.

Here's what I made~

Details~

Lit up~

Okay, so now I'll tell you how I transformed those crazy napkin rings into little tea light lanterns. I cut a strip of vellum, scored it, stamped it, then placed it into the metal frame--oh, the tops come off, by the way. ;) After that, it was just a matter of embellishing! I had SO much fun upcycling these--they're going on my table for a romantic Valentine's dinner lighting option. They match the other decor I made last year! :)

What do you think? I love the way they've turned out! I hope you'll upcycle something today--it's so much fun! Happy crafting!

My First Make It Monday!!!

Well, I decided to take a leap of faith. I have admired all the MIM techniques and have wanted to play along, but all I have are two packages of Papertrey Ink patterned papers. Sooo...I'm using them on these cards so that I can play along! Hopefully that's okay for this week? I will be placing a large PPI order as soon as I can get my DH to acquiesce. Might just have to be my Valentine's present...in advance! They have the most AMAZING Jane Austen stamp set....TOTALLY in my cart right now...along with some other fabulous products. ;)

Okay, so back to the point. This week, the talented Betsy is teaching us how to do Ghost Masking....soooo fun. Soooo hard for me...and so I decided to keep the layout the same in order to not complicate this more than I did. Yep. I DO tend to make things more difficult than they have to!

Here's the first card I made~

Details~

Now, I don't have a border for my Nestabillities, and so I had to free hand it. It's too clunky too me. AND, I forgot to stamp off the first leaf branch that I restamped...did you even notice? I DO. ALSO, the sentiment looks cool, but doesn't really fit with the theme of the card. What was I thinking?! BTW, I had to use some specialty pearly paper because I went down to craft only to find out that I'm OUT OF WHITE CARDSTOCK. What?! But it looks cool...okay, so after this semi-disaster, I decided to have another go. SOOOOOO LOVE the second one!

My second card~

Details~

Ah. Much better! I think it is so pretty!!! The frame is once again free handed--but less chunkily. And I got to use my new set from Pink Paislee's Nantucket line. LOVE it! :) I'm also submitting this second card into the JUGS collage challenge, the Gingersnaps challenge to use a line or set (NEW Pink Paislees! :) ) and the Prairie Fairy Friday California Dreaming challenge (whenever I think about CA, I think of the sea!).

So, I do hope you'll come and play along with us at MIM, JUGS, Gingersnaps, and PFF! We always have a fun time, and the DT creations are AMAZING! :) Happy stamping!

Marvelo{us} Bluebird

Hello! I know I've posted quite a bit today, but I have another card for you! This is my weekly "Spread the L-O-V-E" card. :) Hope you'll join me in this movement--click on the picture above for more information!

Anyway, I've made this card for my cousin who is getting married this week!!! Yeah!!! I know it's not strictly wedding, but I know she'll love it! :)

Here's the card~

Details~

I've used my SU! bird punch and a retired set...forget the name at the moment. I inked and stamped the bird and the wing with vanilla craft ink on paper scraps I've saved and then embossed them in Kaleidoscope embossing powder for some shimmer. :) I've sprayed my flowers with my homemade glimmer mist and added some rhinestone centers. I'm hoping that my cousin can use it as a framed piece in her new home! :)

I hope you'll join me in "Spreading the L-O-V-E"! Happy stamping--and spreading! :)

I'm submitting this card into the following challenges~
Cards 4 Men~Recycle (used scraps and homemade glimmer mist--for my cousin and her husband)
Prairie Fairy Fridays~Things with sparkly wings (my birdie!)
Play Date Cafe~Juniper, mint, vanilla

I'm Dreaming of a PURPLE Christmas!

Okay, so I LOVE purple. I have no other words but LOVE. But even that doesn't come close to really saying what my true feelings are about the matter.

Anyway, the challenge over at Papertake Weekly is to create a Christmas card/project using your favorite color/color scheme. One of my all time favorites along with purple is black. And silver. Yes, purple, black, and silver!!! SO pretty--and so versatile. You can literally make ANY card with this color scheme!

At Stamptacular Sunday, we've gotta get our GLITZ on with a Christmas Project. Over at Crimbo Crackers and Simply Create Too, they're asking for embossing. Over at Dutch Dare, it's a tic tac toe challenge and I chose to do embossing, stamped image, and die cuts. Over at Prairie Fairy Fridays, they want a Christmas card/project with NO red or green. And over at Crafty Creations they're wanting us to DECK THE HALLS with glitter and embossing! :)

Whew! Those are all the fabulous challenges I'm entering my card into--and I LOVE the way it turned out! I think it's gorgeous and I hope you'll agree!

Here it is~

And details~
